The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

His defensive strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to force a third set.
The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
